Writer Kara Carlson is best know for writing lighthearted romance novels. Based on the sale on her previous books, she had been given a large advance by her publisher. But as her publisher reads her new manuscript, she finds Kara has decided to try her hand at writing a dramatic themed novel based on a woman's abduc+ion. Unfortunately, having lived a life of privilege and ease, Kara has no direct experience with this sort of material and the manuscript is quite lacking. The publisher tells Kara she has just a few weeks left to deliver a good novel and leaves the writer to do more "web research" on the subject. But wanting to make sure Kara has the required first-hand experience necessary to write such a tale, the publisher decides to hire a shady old friend to pay Ms. Carlson a visit and give her the inspiration she needs to overcome her writer's block!
