贝拉醒来时躺在猎人的桌子上，双手被绳索严紧捆绑。她的肘部在背后被痛苦地压在一起，手腕被绳子捆在一起。更多的绳子在脚踝和膝盖处把她的腿拧在一起，一块大大的打结布塞在她的牙缝间并在脑后系紧。她在桌上挣扎着抬头，打量自己的处境。她意识到自己独自一人，这也许是她唯一的逃跑机会。贝拉从桌上滑下，站到脚上。她踩着被捆绑的高跟鞋跳到窗边，朝外望去，下面是一片沼泽。她对着堵住嘴的布尖叫，但很快意识到那毫无用处，阴沉的沼泽里除了短吻鳄外没有人。她跳向门，用肩膀把门推开，向里窥探。房间里没有人，于是她跨过门槛走进房内。她又来到另一扇门前，不得不转身试着用被绑的手去拧门把。贝拉设法打开了那扇门，跳进另一个更大的空间。她看到房间另一侧有一扇沉重的门，便迅速跳过房间朝那扇门走去。 她能听到外面有人照常忙着自己的事情，浑然不觉她的存在。贝拉伸手想解开插销，就在门开始向外打开，仿佛要给她带来自由的时候，猎人扑了上来。他抓住她，把她从门口拉开，又重新把插销上好。贝拉在沮丧和绝望中尖叫，他把她抬到肩上，扛回到他的桌子旁。他把她扔到桌上，去拿更多的绳子。贝拉因侥幸逃脱而精疲力尽，试图喘息。猎人拿着更多绳子回来，残忍地把她反手捆绑，从她的肘部到被绑着的脚跟缠好绳索，并把绳子拉得像弓弦一样绷紧。这次他把她无助地反绑紧缚，完全没有逃脱的机会。

Bella awakens laying on the Hunter's table strictly bound in ropes. Her elbows are crushed painfully together behind her back and ropes bind her wrists together. More ropes fuse her legs together at her ankles and knees and a large knotted rag has been pulled between her teeth and tied behind her head. She struggles on the table to see up and take stock of her situation. She realizes that she is alone and this might be her only chance of escape. Bella slips off the table onto her feet. She hops over to a window on her bound stiletto heels and looks out over a swammp. She screams into her gag but quickly realizes the futility of that, there is no one out in that dismal swamp to her but the alligators. She hops over to the door and pushes it open with her shoulder and peeks inside. There is no one in that room so she hops over the threshold and into the room. She comes upon another door and has to turn around and try to open the door knob with her bound hands. Bella manages to open that door and hops into another larger space. She sees another heavy door at the other side of the room and quickly hops across the room to the door. She can hear people outside going about their daily business, unaware of her . Bella reaches up to try to unlock the bolt and just as the door starts to swing open to her freedom the Hunter is on her. He grabs her and pulls her away from the door and re-locks the bolt. Bella screams in frustration and dismay as he lifts her up onto his shoulder and carries her back to his table. He drops her onto the table and goes to get more ropes. Bella is exhausted from her narrow escape and tries to catch her breath. The Hunter comes back with more rope and brutally hogties her with ropes running down from her elbows to her bound heels and pulls the ropes bow string tight. He leaves her helplessly bound and hogtied with no chance of escape this time.
